Have you ever had an Edgar Allan Poe moment...
where you were nice & cozy, minding your own business, and all of a sudden someone's knocking on the door?

Naturally, you get up to investigate, only to find there’s nobody there.

Talk about annoying.

Unlike Mr. Poe, we aren’t living in the 1800s,
and we have the magic of Smart Home Technology available to us!

The Jetsons Retro-Futurism

Home automation is the first step to the future we were promised by everyone from Ray Bradbury to The Jetsons. (Now, where is my jetpack?)

Smart Home technologies allow you to automagically control items around your home — from pet feeders to vacuum cleaners — with the push of a button or the sound of your voice. It’s not science fiction anymore!

Seriously, nowadays, you can set the perfect mood lighting, get the temperature just right, make sure your door is locked and check to see that the weird noise was a bird and not a burglar on your front door camera, all from the comfort of your gigantic wingback chair! Oh, wait, sorry, I’m still thinking about Edgar Allan Poe.

Regardless, we can help you get set up with tried and trusted Smart Home Products that play nice together and leave you feeling safe and comfortable.

Some activities, like setting up a lamp to turn on and off at your whim, are simple and relatively inexpensive. You might be able to do it yourself quickly and easily. Others activities, like installing security cameras, may require a more serious investment of time and money.

In those cases, some help from your local Smart Home pros might help make the experience more enjoyable.

There are also quite a few Smart Home product categories, making it overwhelming and at times difficult to know not only what to buy, but which products integrate the most seamlessly with each other.

That's where we come in.

We're pretty sure setting you up with house robots will turn out a lot better for you then it did in that episode of The Simpsons... but we can't guarantee it.

If you’re skeptical about all this futuristic Smart Home stuff,
we don’t blame you. They are relatively new, and a lot of us have been getting along just fine without them for a long time.

However, if you provide care for someone with more limited mobility, it’s worth considering. Many people with disabilities or limited mobility can benefit from these technologies. For example, wouldn’t it be nice for your grandma to be able to adjust the temperature from bed? Or see if the knock at the door is a friend, or the Avon Lady without having to walk up or down stairs?

Lately, a lot of these technologies have been marketed as an unaffordable and inaccessible luxury made for and by guys like Jeff Bezos. Which is a reputation that has been well earned, because for a long time, that was true.

However, these days that’s not a totally accurate depiction. As more and more new technologies become available, pricing goes down for stuff that’s only a generation or two old, and we really don’t believe in rushing out and buying the latest and greatest just for the  sake of having it, when the more affordable option works just as well.

We know from personal experience that proper implementation of some Smart Home technology can be a powerful tool for creating more accessible living spaces and giving folks with limited mobility more freedom and autonomy over their homes. We also know that they can be more ecofriendly (our Hue LED lights are going on 6 years strong!) and downright cool.

So what are you waiting for?

let's talk smart homes!
